This oil is prepared through steam distillation process from the flowers and twigs of the cajeput tree (Melaleuca leucadendra). As a member of melaleuca family it contains antiseptic, decongestant, antibacterial, astringent, and stimulant properties. Cajeput is a small tree having alternate leaves, most frequently vertical and narrow- lanceolate.
